It’s a two-parter this week on The Gardening Mind, with the ‘Digging Around with…’ interview coming on Thursday.

And today: in the UK we’ve been enjoying the first couple of days of a forecast heatwave, and as this is an unusual occurrence, we’re busy eyeing the garden to see what we can do to help it through this week.

Plus: you can be getting on with planting your daffodil bulbs and other spring bulbs soon-ish (not when it’s so hot though) - apart from tulips which you need to wait till late October, preferably November onwards, to plant¹. I‘ve put together the first part of my new recommendations and combinations just for you, including some very special ones that I know you’ll love. I’ve spent the winter months putting these together for you, and I’ve grown them all previously in my garden, so that I can say to you hand-on-heart that they work, and that they work together.
