A very enjoyable read. I used to work in TV News and like most TV/Film you know the reality of how everyone is working is not reflected in the lovely live position the viewers at home see!

Wow, I feel like i've been on an emotional rollercoaster! Phew! The ups and downs of show gardens, and then, when the gardens are open to the public, it looks as though it has just perfectly been placed there, so serenely, no dramas at all.... I have just completed my first (very, very small) show garden here is Aust, and I can say, no matter what scale, there is always highs and lows, and highs... and lows... But fun times! Absolutely love hearing your stories Jo!

Watching the little films on the Chelsea coverage showing teams struggling on in the rain to get gardens done, somehow I always imagined that there was somewhere warm & dry that everyone could retire to. The idea of having sheds on site for all your 'home comforts' if only fairly briefly is fascinating. I'm looking forward to hearing more of the shed envy & Chatsworth portaloo wars! Your writing paints a great picture of the whole process of putting the show gardens together. I'm looking forward to hearing how you adapt plantings from show gardens for real gardens as well, it's something I have always wondered about. Thanks Jo.

It amazing how many things can go wrong and do indeed go wrong! But the end result of that particular garden made me love pinks and peaches! Thank you! Can wait for episode two!

Wow Jo! So much work and worry. That tree!!! All worth it in the end for such a beautiful garden.

Golly, I commend you, Jo. I'm never likely to see Chelsea in the flesh, but I catch footage on TV here in Australia whenever I can and I truly love it. To have a behind the scenes, step by step, blood and guts detailing of what goes into a show garden is wonderful. Thank you and can't wait to read more. Now, when I watch the Show coverage on TV, I shall look for your name and be able to say 'I kind of know her...' Good luck and cheers.

Fantastic post Jo. I always love to read anything about RHS Chelsea and especially the backstage secrets. Everything always looks so effortless when we visit the show or watch it on TV. I know there's an awful lot of head scratching that goes on during the lead up to the show.
