In the long, hot summer of 1976, when I was very, very, VERY young, my great friend Sarah Lester and I were dressed up by our mums in tie-dyed t-shirts, patch-adorned dungarees and bandannas (their idea of what a hippy would wear). They then armed us with a pair of standpipes (Sarah) and a couple of untwisted coat hangers (water-divining rods - me).
