Today, in Week 4, I’m setting you a task which requires just a bit of thinking, and some notes. I hope you’ll find it fun to do….
Before we do, I’ve got a fabulous bulb giveaway for you, as well as a discount code for all subscribers
One of the design projects dear to my heart is the ongoing restoration of the walled garden at Water Lane in Kent, and if you came to the Gardening Mind Meet-Up there earlier this year, you’ll remember the Melon Border, whose planting design we also looked at here.
This border is proving a hit with both humans and wildlife, and so Water Lane have excitingly decided to share the bulb planting I designed, so that you too can achieve this at home.
Take a look at these - and check out those quantities: you really do get A LOT of bulbs for your money:
1. A bag of mixed tulips (70 bulbs) £49.95
2. A bag of mixed narcissi (45 bulbs) £35.95
3. A bag of fritillaries, crocus and snowdrops (150 bulbs) £35.95
Water Lane also offer the whole lot as a bundle - a total of 265 bulbs - discounted down to £110, a saving of £11.85 for all customers.
I have one bundle to give away (Water Lane will arrange delivery by courier/Royal Mail). If you’d like your name to go in the hat, let me know in the Comments. I’ll be letting the winner know tomorrow November 14th afternoon by 3pm UK time - it’s a quick turnaround.
AND Water Lane are offering Gardening Mind subscribers a 10% discount code (one-time use) to use across the whole online shop valid until 30th November. The discount code is at the end of this post. There are some real treats in there, including this crimped ceramic tableware of dreams, the heavenly C.Atherly collection, and the best bath salts EVER. I didn’t even know I liked bath salts till my sister gave me these - I thought she’d gone mad but I swear they make every bath feel like a spa visit.
Good luck 🌱
Designing small garden spaces - the next step
This is a fun task, divided into two parts, and what I’m going to be doing here is leading you to get right under the skin of your garden. I’m breaking down my own mental process I follow when I go to visit any new garden, and I’m going to take you through what I do, what goes on in my mind, step-by-step.
By the time you’ve finished reading, I’m hoping - and pretty sure - you’ll have a whole new insight into your garden and what you want from it.
